INGREDIENTS
Chocolate donuts:
1 cup (125 grams) all-purpose flour (by the spoonful and level).
1/4 cup (22 grams) unsweetened cocoa powder.
1/2 teaspoon baking powder (baking soda).
1/8 teaspoon salt
120 ml (1/2 cup) buttermilk
1/2 cup (100 grams) granulated sugar
1 large egg (room temperature)
2 tablespoons (30 grams) butter (melted)
1 teaspoon (tsp) vanilla extract
Chocolate frosting
1 cup (120 grams) powdered sugar
3 tablespoons (17 grams) unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon (tsp) vanilla extract
3-4 tablespoons (45-60 ml) milk (or as needed)
INSTRUCTIONS
To make the doughnuts
Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray a bundt pan well with non-stick spray and set aside.
mix In a bowl together the flour, cocoa , baking soda and salt.
In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, sugar, egg, butter and vanilla until well combined.
mix the all ingredients dry and wet
Spoon the batter into the doughnut wells, making sure the doughnuts are only 2/3 to 3/4 full.
Bake until a toothpick inserted into the doughnut comes out clean.
Remove from oven and let cool. Remove donuts from pan.
To make the glaze
In a separate bowl, whisk together the confectioners' sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla and milk. If the glaze is too thick, slowly add a tablespoon of milk at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
Dip the tops of the doughnuts into the glaze and return them to the rack to cool and let the glaze set. Garnish with sprinkles if desired.
