9 ways your dog says, "I love you"

Dogs are considered man's best friend and this is far from a coincidence. While some people still believe that their devotion to us is related to their own needs, many scientists have long since established the opposite, as confirmed by Frank McMillan, director of the Best Animal Society, to the Mother Nature Network website: "Dogs have developed an amazing ability to care about humans, unlike other animal species. They don't just love us, they need us, and not just to satisfy their needs. They need us emotionally. This is why the bond between a dog and its owner is one of the deepest that can exist.

Here is how dogs declare their unconditional love for us.

If your dog is the type to follow you like your shadow room after room, it's because he's clearly very attached to you:

"There is nothing more telling than a dog's physical attitude in this case. This behavior can sometimes give the impression that a dog is not independent enough, but in fact, it is often a sign of deep attachment," confirms Franck McMillan.

2- He stares at you

When you share an "eye contact" with your dog, it's also a way for him to show you that he loves you. According to research by Brian Hare, a canine behaviorist at Duke University, it's the equivalent of your pet giving you a virtual hug because he's so full of love for you at that moment.

Japanese scientists have even shown that a dog's oxytocin level, the love and attachment hormone, increases significantly when he shares a sustained gaze with his master.

3- He relies on you

Most relationships between animals and humans are based on trust and reassurance. If your dog clings to you during a storm or instinctively moves closer when he panics, it's because he's worried about you and wants to support you.

4- He understands you

When you have a very close relationship with your dog, he normally becomes able to feel your emotions. Frank McMillan confirms:

"Many dogs can perceive the pain or stress of their owner. A single detail or expression is enough for them to know that something is wrong. In this kind of situation, they stick to you, rest their head on your lap or try to lick you to try to comfort you.

5- He yawns with you

When our neighbor yawns, instinctively we often do the same. But what you may not have known is that very few animal species are able to do this. And the dog is one of them. Even more original, he would only reproduce the yawn if it is emitted by a being for whom he feels affection.

6- He focuses on you

Some dogs feel such an exclusive love for their master that they don't necessarily behave as you would expect in front of a crowd. Just because he goes to others doesn't mean he doesn't love you or doesn't love you anymore, but if your pet tends to stay focused only on you when it's crowded, it means you hold a really important place in his heart.

7- He sleeps near you

Dogs' ancestors lived in packs and even today, they are still looking for warmth and protection. When your dog comes to sleep next to you, it means that he considers you as a member of his family.

8- He forgives you

The good thing about dogs is that they don't hold grudges. Whether you ignore him because of a bad day or you raise your voice, if your dog truly loves you, he will almost instantly forgive your bad mood.

9- He'll celebrate you

Jumping up and down, wagging his tail, wagging his tail, all signs that he has missed you and therefore loves you, as Franck McMillan explains:

"This type of attitude becomes even more blatant when the dog identifies a habitual sound, such as the squeak of the garage door or the sound of the car engine."
